I’m not sure about guys. But every girl indulges from time to time in day dreaming. Envisioning a romantic proposal, picturing a fairytale wedding. The fantasies may vary, but exchanging vows that join two people for life certainly calls for a spectacular setting. So I am not surprised to learn that Audrey and Jérôme, an adorable French couple, chose to celebrate their wedding on the luxury Yacht DAMAI INDAH LAGI, planning to say ‘I do’ in the breathtaking sunset over the Andaman Sea.

Although the official part of the marriage is already settled, the ceremony is supposed to be a surprise for the parents of the bride and groom. So when they board the boat, they have no idea how memorable this cruise will turn out to be.
The first few hours pass leisurely. The beautiful DAMAI INDAH LAGI glides effortlessly along the spectacular lime-stone cliffs, weaves her way through a labyrinth of tiny uninhibited islands with mysterious caves hidden in ancient rainforest.
The clueless wedding party makes themselves comfortable on the lime green Thai-pillows - sipping cocktails, and taking in the breathtaking scenery.
After a delicious lunch, we anchor in a quiet bay and the soon-to-be in-laws set out to explore the emerald green sea on kayaks, while the couple decides to retreat to an idyllic lagoon. As the dinghy takes them to the dreamlike deserted beach, I watch the bride in her turquoise flowing top, embroidered with sparkling stones, her blond hair flowing in the wind… Beautiful, resembling a sea-fairy. And I can see the love in Jérôme’s eyes. Yes, she is the one…
There is this special glow on their faces as they return - long before everybody else, in order to get ready for their special evening. So when the parents come on board again, they see Audrey in a breathtaking wedding dress, with Jérôme standing next to her - handsome and strong, determined to make her the happiest woman in the world.
The sunset is slowly setting in, painting the sky with gold, orange and crimson hues. From the speakers sounds ‘A Midsummer Night's Dream’, the famous Wedding March composed by Mendelssohn, and we all assemble on the bow. Eva, the Captain, approaches the couple to make a speech. Comparing the life-long journey Audrey and Jérôme are about to embark on to a sea voyage. Promising that there will be many sunny days with the couple peacefully floating throughout life as a boat on a quiet ocean, reassuring them that they will master not to lose the course when the waves become wild and turbulent from time to time…
Deeply touched, the couple exchanges their personal vows, slipping on each other’s finger their wedding bands, and kissing - for the first time as husband and wife. They speak French, so I don’t understand a word. But the melody of their voices, the emotions in their faces say it all. Both mothers stop fighting their emotions, allowing the tears of joy travel down their cheeks, while their equally moved husbands reassuringly squeeze their hands.
Eva, the captain, takes a single garland made of colourful orchids, symbolically joining the couple as she hangs it around their necks. We all begin to throw at the married couple rose petals. White, pink and red. Some of them get caught on the pristine white wedding dress of the bride, others are blown away by the wind, turning the sea around into a bloom-ing ocean.

Eva pops the cork of a champagne bottle, offering the first shot to Neptune, the god of the sea, and splashing some on the feet of the bride and the groom, before filling everybody’s glasses, so that we can toast on the couple’s life-long happiness.
The crew is ready to serve a scrumptious dinner, so we all slowly head to the beautifully presented buffet: fresh seafood, marinated tenderloin, roasted chicken, exotic salads… Along with exquisite white and red wine. A true feast! But when I turn around, I notice that Audrey and Jérôme didn’t move from the spot. They stand on the bow, holding hands, looking at the colorful horizon. Wondering where the life is going to take them. Savoring the magic of the moment. Knowing that in all the years to come, whenever they look back, their sunset wedding on DAMAI INDAH LAGI will fill their hearts with happy memories.
