PrintE-mail Positive News for Langkawi

Mark, 21 May 2009

Two positive News in regard of the future of Langkawi were reported by the Malaysian News Agency BERNAMA a few days ago.
- The Assurance that the Federal Govt will continue to develop Langkawi and the
- Proposal of an International School in Langkawi.

Federal Govt Will Continue To Develop Langkawi
LANGKAWI, May 14 (Bernama)

The federal government will continue to develop Langkawi as a world class tourist destination, said Minister in the Prime Minister's Department Tan Sri Nor Mohamed Yakcob.

He said towards this end, the federal government was willing to work with all parties including the PAS leadership in Kedah to ensure Langkawi's tourism industry continued to progress.

Nor Mohamed told this to Bernama after holding a meeting on Langkawi's development with the Langkawi Development Authority and several federal agencies here Thursday.

He added that the federal government did not foresee any problems in providing development allocations for Langkawi as there were still funds not utilised under the provision for the Northern Corridor Economic Region ECER).

Langkawi Homeschool by Katja Penders on 05 Jun 2009, 12:25 pm

Hi
There is a homeschool which as a tutor, is the closest thing to international education on this island at the moment. Is there something else? I would lvoe to collaborate with others to introduce this to LADA.

At this point in time though, it doesnt look like there are many people with kids on this island.

Could someone confirm this or comment on this for me?

I have been away on cavation, so please bear with me, on the late response!

Hi Katja by Mark on 05 Jun 2009, 9:58 pm

Nice to see you here.
We will try to get more info about this planned int. school. I am not sure yet if this will be a school for holiday courses only or also for the regular schooling of English speaking childern.
I hope to get more on that soon.

Cheers
Mark
