Langkawi Development Authority (LADA)
has been selected to receive the “37th International Award for Tourist, Hotel and Catering Industry (New Millennium Award)” by Trade Leader’s Club, Madrid; as a recognition for Tourism Promotion and Development in its area for the year 2011.
The Chief Executive Officer of LADA, Tan Sri Khalid Ramli received the awards during the Gala Dinner at Melia Castilla Hotel, Madrid on 19 January 2012. This recognition is to acknowledge and recognize the continuous promotion activities and tourism development in Langkawi by LADA in the year 2011.
LADA is chosen based on the outstanding achievement in improving the social and economic development of Langkawi; especially in tourism development. The cooperation and continuous support from local community, tourism players including NGO’s has enable LADA to implement the tourism development projects and activities.
LADA will continue to strive in promoting Langkawi as the world class tourist destination by strengthening Langkawi’s Branding and Marketing. With the launching of Langkawi Tourism Blueprint; Langkawi is expected to receive 3 million tourists by year 2015 and will generate 3.8 billion MYR.
