Eva: My letter to the Langkawi Gazette
 

Dear Malaysians and ex-pats of Langkawi

and to the rest of this world . . .

Some of you surely know me, I am Eva, skipper of the Damai Indah, Blue Water Star Sailing.
I am writing to you, to inform you about my new project here in Langkawi.

A  few months ago I established a company called REVITACURA.
My website will be up and running again within a few days.

Now I am pretty sure that you are aware of the problem of overweight and obesity here on the island. (This is an almost worldwide epidemic, a dramatically increasing serious medical situation that is very scary, if you ask me).

The aim of REVITACURA is to help young overweight and obese people on Langkawi to overcome their condition.

As you read Langkawi Gazette, I guess you know Paul Penders. He has offered me his container house and plot of land close to Kuah, free of charge for my project.

Here is what I intend to do:

I want to help in particular the younger generation to make a change to their lifestyle and diet, in short words.
Paul’s property is just ideal for us, as we can do all sorts of sporty activities and cooking classes there.
So far I have paid all the other set up costs and I will not be charging the kids, neither their parents.
I have no funding from the government and hope I can manage without it.
But I do need help and sponsors.
I shall need more or less everything, but in particular I hope that people are willing to support me in the following fields:

The main diet for my kids will come from fruits and vegetables. Each and every donation of any of these items is most welcome.

Paul’s property is not yet really finished. A great advantage for my kids to burn calories is in cleaning it up, painting it and so forth. But I need help here, to supervise and instruct the kids in this work  - I am completely incompetent here.
Paul is very supportive and will pay for most of the installation that we need such as toilets, etc, but I don’t want to stretch his generosity to far.

I need volunteers that can help with:

Painting, electrics, land clearing, etc.

I plan to build an organic farm and a green house here, out of bamboo and on stilts.I need material and people that can help with their expertise, passion or even money. We also have the intention to create a roof-top-garden on the container house and I don’t even know how to make compost. As you can see, I am pretty incompetent in many ways, right?

I would also love someone to make a documentary video for us – I cannot afford a professional camera team, but I hope to find someone who can hold a video camera (I don’t’ have one myself) and record our main activities and the progress my kids will hopefully make.

I also want to raise chickens organically as well as other animals and I have no experience here either.
I hope you may find my project interesting, very worthwhile and are as excited about it as I am.So please help me to spread the word around.
