Prices of Hotelrooms in Langkawi increased 11% since last year.
The city within Malaysia that recorded the highest hotel room prices paid was Langkawi. An average room night on the island cost US$201 in 2010, recording 11% increase over the preceding year. Kuala Lumpur, the capital of Malaysia, also saw a year-on-year price increase of 15% to US$111 per room night paid in 2010.....

I assume this must be for 4 or 5 star accommodation and seems high ( compared to KL- city rate ).The magic word "discount" springs to mind.
The problem here- and a lot of other places -is that the locals see a "word" stamped on either expats or tourists foreheads and try and charge accordingly!
