Blood Donation in Langkawi Fair

ANSARA is organising a
Nationwide PreRamadhan Blood Donation Campaign
to stock up as much blood as possible at all blood banks throughout the country before the start of the fasting month of Ramadhan.

Date      :     7th August 2010 (Saturday)
Time      :     10:30am to 6:00pm
Venue   :     Langkawi Fair concourse area

This is done in anticipation of a severe shortage of blood supply during that month because the majority Muslim population will not be able to donate blood because of fasting (puasa).

The high rate of road accidents during the ‘balik kampong’ season at the end of Ramadhan will inevitably increase the demand for blood. This increase in demand for blood when the supply is at its lowest during Ramadhan will create a critical blood supply situation throughout the country. And this occurs every year in the month of Ramadhan.

To support this noble and caring cause, the Management of Langkawi Fair has offered Langkawi Fair as the venue for this blood donation drive to be held on:

Highlights of the day
Langkawi Fair is sponsoring LUCKY DIP upon purchase of RM50 and above in a single receipt to all shoppers. There will be health awareness booths, stage performances by students, clown walkabout, lucky draw prizes for donors and etc. The Persatuan Diabetes Malaysia in Langkawi will also give free diabetes screening to all blood donors at the same time!

About ANSARA
ANSARA was established in 1994 with the incorporation of 14 alumni association of MRSM (Maktab Rendah Sains MARA or MARA Junior Science College). Blood Donation Drive is one of the projects undertaken by ANSARA on a nationwide basis. There are many other projects undertaken by individual alumni association but these activities are not reported in the press.
