Updated 25 June
The holiday for a couple ended in a tragedy when they were swept off by the current while bathing in the sea at Pantai Tengah on Langkawi.
Langkawi police chief Supt Ishak Hassan said Yuhin Azlan, 31, from Batu Caves, Selangor, and wife, Norita Dahari, 29, with other members of their families, were bathing in the sea near the hotel they were staying when they got into difficulties about 6pm yesterday.
He said Yuhin's body was found about 8.20am today about 500 metres from where he was last seen and the search was still on for his wife.

Beach Safety by Farid Sani on 29 Jun 2010, 10:50 am
I believe there is much to be desired with regards to our Civil Defense which has a station on the beach. I believe there should be at least 3 stations along the Pantai Tengh/Pantai Cenang beach. Also notice should be put up at strategic points to inform the public about the condition of the waters. I would like to advise the bosses of Civil Defense to go to other countries and observe how their beach patrol/safety are managed and apply it in Langkawi.
