Playing with fire?
Mark: 26 May 2010
Today about 11.50 am, riding back from Kuah to Kisap I saw from far away a huge black – very black – smoke cloud. Finding the cause of it – I came to a fire that was setup in the rubber trees, just below high current electric wires.
When I started to take pictures, suddenly one of the wire came down.
A few minutes later a second one.
A bit dangerous I felt.
This incident should be investigated. Who goes and pollutes the environment in such a way by burning old tires for nothing?
Or was there the intention to bring the electricity down?
Or just a stupid guy playing with fire?

Thanks for your comment.
The burning of rubbish is a bad habit and very problematic. Going through the Kampungs in the early evening you can smell burned plastic bags nearly everywhere. The people seem to think it's the best Mosquito Repellent. And they are right of course: this stuff is poisonous... but not only for the mosquitos...

Many uses of tyres by zuraidah zainal abidin on 27 May 2010, 9:12 am
You do not have to burn old tyres. Open burning pollutes the air etc. You can use them as planter box. Put soil & compost and line them up they make good planter box. My neighbour uses them to plant her ladys fingers plants and flowersOr use them as fence. Also I saw one house in KL that uses tyres as fence. The owner stacked them and made a wall & put creeping plants and it is beautifiuil. A green wall. He saves money and it looks nice. To me, that is. I do not know who but someone has to educate the Langkawi residence to be more environemnt friendly.
