Dear Friends of Langkawi and Langkawi Residence,
Langkawi has come to a very important crossroad and at stake is our quality of life and economic future. The future of this beautiful and beloved island home of ours is in our very hands. We must make the necessary changes, we cannot afford to see the lost of any more precious rainforest especially by land speculators. These few speculators are selling our future and the future of our children.
MNS Langkawi calling for Residents of Langkawi and Friends of Langkawi to sign this petition and stop the burning of rainforest now!.
To sign the Petition go here
Thank you, Irshad Mobarak

Yes - it all depends on a few active people to get the message out. And it looks we are lucky to have some...
When it's too late by zuraidah zainal abidin on 25 May 2010, 3:09 pm
Sometimes we do not know what we have until it is too late. If we are lucky we might get it back, but usually it is too late. The people of Langkawi should come out together and talk about it seriously. Plan tree planting projects and " No Plastic Day' project in Langkawi. The task force of MPL -Be positive & action oriented. Join the eco-warriors for the sake of our future generation. Right now I can still see the humming bird, king fisher, horn bill, eagles flying around as I drive along but our grandchildren might only see them in the zoo or in TV. Then it is too late.

Absolutely.
The thing is, that the people living here are used to have all this nature around them. So it is not estimated. They should all be forced to go and live for 2 years in a big city - and then they would understand.
But obviously a few locals are waking up and are quite active. Let's hope we can turn the overall perception around now.

I am trying my best to get my friends to join by Sharlene Khor on 23 May 2010, 1:43 pm
Hi, I have been posting this on my facebook. Seems like it is working from #39 to #62 today, but we need more people! Hope we will have enough. Seems like the locals have no clue what has happened to the rainforest.
