PrintE-mail Langkawi’s Expat Bars

The Shore Cafe - owned and managed by RayMark: 2 March 2010

Asked by a reader of the Langkawi Gazette, where he could meet Expats on Langkawi, I asked around and we came up with the following places:

Kuah:
Charli’s Place (Langkawi Yacht Club), Pier, Cappuccino House and Shore Cafe.
Pantai Cenang:
Oasis, Babylon, Beach Garden, Red Tomato, 1812 Bar
Kuala Teriang:
Mangoes
Telaga: Tapas Bar

I am sure this list is in no way complete. Reader, if you know a nice place where Expats hang out on Langkawi - please comment!

But this list already shows, that THE ONE Bar for Expats is probably missing – specially in Kuah. There are many possibilities in Kuah – but in none of these places the Expats really feel ‘at home’.

The Mangoes is still an insider tip. We will bring more about it,  as soon as they will have their website up and running.

The Shore Cafe - close to Pekan Rabu – has been taken over by Ray, formerly working in "Silversand" and then in the "Cappuccino House". She is known to many as being a very nice and helpful person. On Friday Evenings about 15 or so expats have a pool competition and a "Curry" in her Shore Cafe.

The new Amanda Coffee & Tea in Pekan Rabu is a nice place with good Coffee and Sandwiches – but serving no alcohol has no chance to be or become a serious hangout place for expats.

Mangoes by Vanessa Lynn Workman on 06 Mar 2010, 10:11 am

Hey...Mangoes is more of a restaurant with a full bar. You can certainly go there just for drinks..but its not a loud rowdy place with late hours, out of respect for the nieghbors. :)
