the directions below are based on approximate distances from established landmarks.
Some phone numbers are included, which might be useful if you get completely lost.

Billion Supermarket – “Langkawi Fair”, next to LADA & PO, 1.5km from RLYC & Jetty.
Teow Soon Huat, “Langkawi Parade”, on highway, 3km from Kuah toward Telaga.
PL Soon Huat, opposite Petronas, 2 km from Padang Matsirat toward Kuah Town.
(There are several, but these are the easiest to find and the biggest & best)
Kuah. Wed & Sat. from 1700. On road in front Baron Hotel, beside canal & new bridge.
Padang Matsirat. Sun. from 1600. In central town, opposite Mosque, 5 km from Airport.
Beer, wines, spirits:
(Many duty free stores to choose from in Langkawi. Here are some of the cheapest).
LG Shop: Kuah. 3rd street in from waterfront. Half the shop is alcohol, plus elec goods.
Langkawi Fair: Next to Billion Supermarket (see directions above).
Teow Soon Huat: (Wholesale store). Off hwy, 200mtrs behind main fish/veg market.
Teow Soon Huat: (Retail) In basement supermarket, plus huge stock in grd floor shop.
Tasty & Healthy: A couple of shops from RHB Bank and opposite the public car park in central Kuah. Ph: (6)04 955 6728. A good range of imported foods, incl spicy sausages
and one of the few places to buy real bacon and other ham products. Also beer/wines.
Near Airport, about 300 metres north of Langkasuka Jetty (Where Rebak Ferry stops).

Fruit & vegetables flown direct to Langkawi twice weekly from family-owned market garden
in Western Australia. Imported meats.(portioned/vacuum packed), cheese, yoghurt, fresh
herbs and packaged food. Some items stocked just for yacht crews including used books.
PL Soon Huat:
Bulk supermarket about 800 metres from main traffic light intersection in Matsirat on road to Kuah. Small section next to checkout devoted to imported foods. Next door is a warehouse where cases of beer can be purchased very cheaply.
Fish & Vegetable Market:
Situated 3km along main highway, west of main Kuah traffic lights towards Telaga Harbour.
If coming from Kuah do a U turn at lights 200 mtrs after Petronas and go back to side street opposite Petronas. Market is end of street with big car park in front. Be early, before 1100 or after 1700 to get freshest supplies. Closed between those times. Opens every day.
Mobile Vege Service:
Friday mornings, a vegetable stall is briefly set up at Rebak ferry jetty, Langkasuka.
Ferry ride from Rebak is free. Also Friday morning, same thing at Telaga Harbour.
Water and ice:
Tap water/ice is safe to drink/eat. Block & crushed ice (+ seafood & vege) two shops along from Pier Restaurant on waterfront, near main Kuah traffic lights. Drinking water is also available to fill boat tanks in marinas and to fill jerry cans at the Pier Restaurant.
LPG Cooking Gas:
The Petronas bottles with standard Malay fittings can be exchanged in dozens of stores around the Island for average price of RM20 (11kg) & RM25 (14kg). Most other foreign brand fittings can be refilled at only Rebak Marina (RM7 per kg) or Peninsula Yachts chandlery, next to the Pier Restaurant.

The Pier Restaurant has a laundry drop-off and collection service at reasonable rates.
There are many laundries around the island, (called Dobi in Malay) for RM2 - 3 per kg.

Internet: WIFI connection is available at the 3 marinas. (See details in Marina section).
Also free connection at Starbucks and lobby of Bayview Hotel and some resort hotels.
Internet shops at ground floor of Langkawi Plaza, (near main highway traffic lights) and
in shop opposite the Plaza, on seaward side of the Plaza car park. Rates: RM2 p/hour.
RLYC: ask reception, or best rates at several rental offices at nearby Jetty Point.

Pier Restaurant: Ring Musa 019-4793738 for delivery/return of car at cheap rates.
Tourist Information Centre:
Situated on the main road between Jetty Point & Kuah town, beside the large Mosque.
Helpful staff will answer questions and invite you to take free copies of travel brochures
and glossy publications. An excellent one to look for is "Sail and Cruise". Lots of info.
