PrintE-mail Opening Hours and Holidays

Most Shops are closed on Friday:
But some Chinese shops will be open on Friday.
Same with most tourist orientated shops - they are open all week.

Banks are closed on Sat and Sunday:
But the AGRO Bank in Kuah (where you can pay all your bills, including the Water Bills) is closed on Friday and Saturday.

If a shop is closed on Friday, it might be open the next day, or closed until Noon, or even closed the whole Saturday too.

If there is a public Holiday falling on a Saturday or Sunday, the Monday will be offday.

Opening Hours:

A lot of shops in Kuah will open at 10.00, 10.30 or even 11.00.
Others, like foodstalls, will be open at already at 7.00 am.

In the evening some shops will close at 17.00 - most at 18.00 or 19.00 and some are open until 22.00.

Langkawi Fair:
10.30  until 22.00 - but many shops in the mall open later and close before 22.00.
Open daily and on most Public Holidays.

Langkawi Parade:
11.00 - but TSH (Supermarket) opens at 10.00.
All close at 22.00 - but many shops in the mall open later and close before 22.00.
Open daily and on most Public Holidays.

Same insecurity applies to the holidays:

Malaysia has many many special Holidays. The Malay Holidays, the Chinese Holidays, the Indian Holidays, the Christian Holidays and the Birthdays of different important persons in the country or state, etc. etc.

Some are a reason for some of the shops to be closed. No strict rules apply.

Beside this:  a business is open when it is open -
and closed when it is closed:

There is no reason why.

So your favorite 'Cold Store' could decide to be closed for 2 weeks without notice beforehand or during the closing. You best ask the next door business when they will be back...
