Bravo Patrick !!

The FIRST number of the
Langkawi Vacation Guide is out !

Patrick Low and his team from the Langkawi Link have done it again: the new version of the Langkawi Link, called 'Vacation Guide' is out. 
This edition has been printed in 10 000 copies and will be distributed at the Airport only.

Such a printed medium for the Tourism Industry has been missing until now.

Patrick writes:

"The guide will have:
    

1. Driving tour highlights for those of you renting a vehicle to explore Langkawi.
    It's all the interesting stuff that is not usually listed on the free maps.
2. Guides to all the beaches and waterfalls.
3. Guide to the best sunset walks.
4. Boat tours, Eco Tours, Adventure Tours.
5. Guide to Tourist Attractions.
6. Guide to Eating Districts and a translation of the main rice and noodle dishes
    at cheapo Malay restaurants.
7. And finally, because almost everyone on this forum (Tripadvisor, ed.) hates Kuah,
    I wrote a whole article on how to have a fun time in Kuah (I live in Kuah and I love it.
    Sue me).

The guides to waterfalls, tourist attractions and boat tours have a 5 part rating system (Education or cultural factor, Fun factor, Romance factor, Older kid interest and Physical Fitness required). This is mean for you to choose according to your personality and travel style. "

You can read it in full size as pdf file. It is a 'low resolutiuon' pdf, which opens up quite fast (but is still of a very good quality).

The pdf file does support links. So everywhere a link to a website is mentioned or to an email address, you can check if the link is active. It will be, if it is a proper link, including the 'www'. Sometimes you will find a link written properly - which does not work. This is, when the link was part of a picture and not inserted separately as text.

These things will be taken in consideration in the next issue, which will come out on the first of September.

Community Information

Now that the 'traditional' Langkawi Link does not come out anymore, things like 'classified ads' and community information will have no printed medium anymore for the time being on Langkawi.

Both can be put up for free on the Langkawi Gazette.
