Family Day with Langkawi Artists
15 June 2010: Text and Photo by Gary Goudzwaard
Saturday June the 12th,
The Langkawi Artist Visual Art Association (LAVAA)
put on a well organized "Family Day" for artists and would be artists at The Oriental Village. (At the base of the Cable Car.) Anyone who wanted to paint was provided with canvas, frame, easel, paints and assistance. Even food and drinks were supplied and there was no charge for any of it. The sunny day at Oriental Village turned out be a beautiful setting for the diverse group of Langkawi residents and visitors to show and develop their painting skills.
LAVAA can be contacted at: lavaalgk@yahoo.com or on Facebook

THANKS to the Organizers -- a Huge Success! by Deborah Gray on 28 Jun 2010, 8:20 am
My family and friends would like to express a heartfelt thanks to the organizers of the painting day at Oriental Village. Friendly helpers went out of their way to ensure we had materials, drinks, and a tasty lunch. The setting was perfect -- breezy shade under the permanent umbrellas around the ponds, and a bustling feeling with all of the tourists and local families strolling around. Participants, all ages, focused on relaxing and having fun, and I think we were all a bit surprised at how creative we could be. The final display of completed pieces at the end of the day was very impressive! So to all of the organizers and helpers at Painting Day -- THANK YOU and we hope that you do it again next year if not before! Job well done! Deb
