A Note about the Functionality of Email Addresses
Some companies have email addresses on their Business Card and Letterheads - but you will not find the email address in the Directory. Why? Simply because these email addresses do not work...
From about 1000 actual business cards we gathered together, we got about 800 email addresses.
In a first mail out to all these email addresses, about 1/5th (19%) were not working.
The only explanation we have for this is, that many businesses do put up an email address, but do then not need it. They do not go and check it, and after some time the email address has been deleted by the provider.
Conclusion: If you try to contact local businesses by email, and you are not sure that it is a big, modern company, used to email traffic - the chance is, the email will be returned to you or at least, that you will not get an answer.
