Dinner with Family at Jai Island Cafe
Dad was working part-time as a project adviser in Ipoh during the last week of October. Besides, Jimmy was about to sit for his final exam and wouldn't be back home till mid of November. So, there were only me, my mom, Emma and Calvin. It'd been a long time since we had a meal together outside, so we chose to eat out at Jai Island Cafe one night after mom closed her shop.

Emma and Calvin pondering over the heavy and over-sized menu.
Compared to their old menu, the news ones were twice the size and a lot heavier too. Although there were more items on the menu, the prices had been raised due to the increasing number of customers.

Seafood Tom Yam
This dish is a must-order for us. This bowlful of spicy and sourish authentic Tom Yam was laden with prawns, squid, chicken chunks, shallots, tomatoes, carrots, baby corns, basil leaves and parsley. Although this appetizing soup could bring tears to your eyes, you would be craving for more after one serving. It was very addictive!

Chicken Chop
Mom and Emma had Chicken Chop each. Came on a heavy plate was a battered and golden brown chicken, coleslaw, baked beans, shoe-strings and served with black pepper sauce. This chicken chop dish used to be RM7.50 each, but they increased the price to RM10 each! I would have got a much better quality one at a fancy restaurant if I pay twice the price.

Jai's Burger Special
Calvin, a BIG eater, went for this burger dish which would definitely fill the black hole in his stomach. Sandwiched in between two lightly buttered buns were two fat beef patties, a slice cheddar cheese and some Mayonnaise and chilli sauce. Not only the portion was hearty, but also the price was quite reasonable.

Nasi Goreng Paprik
I opted for Nasi Goreng Paprik. Although the name sounds common, the tastes and flavours were so much different from those I had at any Malay stores in town. The flavours were more intense and this dish had abundant ingredients like chicken, long beans, and cabbage. Yummy~
