PrintE-mail Wei Tze's 21st Birthday Dinner at Dragon Dynasty Restaurant

18 January 2009, Friday

A buddy of mine, Wei Tze whom I've known since primary school, had invited a few of us to his birthday dinner at Dragon Dynasty Restaurant. It's an honour to be invited because it's not like everyday you get to have a such a wonderful feast with friends.

Assorted Salads

First dish! It came with three different types of salads/appetizers. The middle was prawn salad with good amount of mayonnaise, the bottom was some sort of omelet topped with shark's fin, and the top was fish served with sweet and tangy sauce.

Look at the amount of shark's fin and crab meat *slurps*

Deep-Fried Chicken and Duck

The next dish was a dual-meat dish. The right was Deep-fried Chicken served with Sweet Thai Chili Sauce. On the left was Braised Duck. Both tasted equally excellent. Tender, juicy and finger lickin' good.

Deep-Fried Tiger Prawns

Next was Deep-fried Tiger Prawns wrapped in spring roll skin. There's nothing wrong with the taste but the way they prepared the food was just...silly! Normally we'll peel off the shell before consuming, but how did they expect us to peel off the shell if they were wrapped up? My friends looked puzzled but everyone just ate the whole thing eventually. Haha! No one bothered to peel off the shell.

Stir-fried Assorted Vegetables

Although the veggies were lightly stir-fried, they tasted great!

Teow Chew Style Steamed Grouper

The fish was extremely fresh and the gravy was adequately seasoned.

Pineapple Fried Rice

Since it's pineapple fried rice, why couldn't I find any pineapple in it? But it was prepared the way I like it to be. Not too dry or oily, with a tinge of curry flavour.

Fruit Punch

It's dessert time! But, we were all stuffed. We had Fruit Punch for dessert but it was barely touched.

Asti Martini

It wouldn't be a celebration for Wei Tze if there wasn't any alcohol on the table. We had Asti Martini. A great easy-drinking, bubbly and sweet champagne. I think it's suitable for any occasion. I loved it! Wei Tze had made the right choice ;)

A toast to Wei Tze: Happy Birthday, buddy! Wish you all the best in 2008 and happy being 21!
