Dinner at Mare Blu Italian Restaurant Accompanied by Moët & Chandon
19 December 2009, Saturday
This post was an outdated post but I still want to blog about it as it's about one of the best Italian restaurants that I'd recommend in Langkawi. One night, Wei Tze said that he would like to try out Mare Blu, which is located right on the waterfront of Perdana Quay at Telaga Harbour Park, provides both a relaxing ambiance and splendid Italian food.

Sole Classic Natural Mineral Water
A premium Italian bottled mineral water, Sole water is as close to nature as mineral water can get. Renowned for its high quality and low sodium content, Sole Classic refreshes and cleanses your palate while having a slightly sweet taste.

Moët & Chandon Brut Impérial
Moët & Chandon Brut Impérial "is a balanced assemblage of the three vine varieties disclosing a succession of elegant and harmonious sensations, a fresh maturity, supple and refined lines, inspiring well-being and an emotion which is appreciated and shared. Pale yellow with shades of green. Subtly vinous, with a vine and lime blossom attack. Delicate well-balanced ; leaves behind a sense of harmony, mellowness."

Flatbread
This flatbread was complimentary. According to the waiter, it's a baked flatbread topped with some herbs, seasonings and a dash of olive oil. It's best to eat it warm as the texture would become chewy when it turns cold. I loved to dip this bread with the pumpkin soup.

Pumpkin Soup
I'm not a big fan of pumpkin soup but I grew to like it after my good impression on the pumpkin soup I had at Salsas Restaurant. However, this one was a little too watery for my liking. It could have tasted better if it was thicker and creamier.

Ricotta Gnocchi with Gorgonzola and Radicchio Sauce
I'm an adventurous foodie, that's why I'd like try different things on the menu especially those with names I've never seen before. Gnocchi is the Italian name for a variety of thick, soft noodles or dumplings, and it's the first time I had Gnocchi. I must admit that it's not my type pasta because it's kind of doughy. But I loved the Gorgonzola cheese and Radicchio sauce. Gorgonzola cheese is a veined Italian blue cheese, made from unskimmed cow's and/or goat's milk. Its distinctive taste went really well with the pasta and enhance the flavours.

Smoked Duck Pizza
I love duck meat and this dish attracted my attention. Thin crusty pizza base topped with tomato sauce, smoked duck breast, fresh button mushrooms and Mozzarella cheese. The pizza was great but I found that the smoked duck breast was a little too salty.

Seafood Platter
We ordered a Seafood Platter to share, which arrived with grilled fish, lobster, prawns, scallops, clams, oysters, mussels, squids, and sliced potatoes. The seafood was fresh and had great smoky flavour.
Come to Telaga Harbour Park and be surprised by the beauty of the surrounding nature and spoil yourselves with the large variety of food and drinks at the Mare Blu Italian Restaurant.
